The Commercial Lending Certification Program consists of eight (8) sessions offered as live webinars or in a DL format (available on-line); and updated as needed to reflect changes in prudent banking practices, regulations and market conditions.

To summarize, the Commercial Lending Certification Program consists of 8 live sessions delivered over 3 days in a webinar format with supporting materials. You may also participate by listening to DLs of each of the sessions. If you are unable to attend all eight live sessions, or you wish to further review sessions you've attended, you can utilize a DL. After completing the eight sessions and passing our final certification test you will receive your certification from Sheshunoff Consulting + Solutions and BankersWEB. This will certify that you have successfully completed all of the course requirements, passed the final examination and have been certified by us as a Certified Commercial Lending Officer. We will send you a certificate documenting that you have attained this important achievement. You will be certified for a two-year period from the date you pass the final test. There is a second year continuing education certification requirement which includes attendance at additional webinars or listening to the equivalent DLs. The cost of your second year continuing education requirement will be billed separately at the start of your second year as a Sheshunoff Consulting + Solutions/BankersWEB Certified Commercial Lending Officer.


  • You are required to complete the Sheshunoff Consulting + Solutions and BankersWEB Commercial Lending Certification Program and, also, pass a final exam within two months of completing the course requirements.
  • The optimal level of education and professional experience includes a Bachelor’s degree coupled with at least three (3) years of commercial lending experience. The most beneficial degrees include but are not limited to accounting, business administration, economics, engineering, finance, mathematics, physics and a non business degree with an MBA.
  • Participants without a degree but with a commensurate level of business and credit risk experience would benefit from the program.
  • You must complete a minimum of 6 hours of continuing education beginning in the second year in order to maintain your certification. You may satisfy your continuing education requirement by attending a designated group of related BankersWEB webinars or with other educational activities approved by BankersWEB. The cost of attending two BankersWEB webinars covering three of your required six hours of continuing education will be included in your annual $600 continuing education maintenance fee.
  • You will be required to recertify every two years.


Your conference leader for the “Commercial Lending Certification Program” is Mark Uhler, regional manager of loan review, Sheshunoff Consulting + Solutions. He joined Sheshunoff Consulting + Solutions' Risk Management Division after a 36 year banking career as a consultant, regulator, and banker with specialties in loan review, reserve for loan loss reserve analysis, and problem loan work out administration. Mark served as president and chief executive officer of troubled banks in Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas where he was responsible for successfully restoring the banks to a safe and sound condition. Mark began his career as a national bank examiner for the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency in the Kansas City, Missouri in 1973. Mark authored the Guide to Developing a Written Lending Policy for the American Bankers Association and participated in designing the "Business Banker" certification for the Institute of Certified Bankers. Mark graduated from the Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers University in 1984 and received a bachelor of science, business administration degree from Pittsburg State University majoring in accounting and economics in 1977.
